studio work.

For this assessment, we were told to create a range of studio portraits to get use used to using the studio light and equipment. here are a few of my favourite final outcomes. when i first went into the studio i was a bit anxious as i didn't really know how to use the lighting and i didn't really want to give my model demands, but after a few shots i just kinder got used to it and i started to feel really comfortable with myself, with my model and with the equipment. these are the images that stood out. as i got more comfortable ideas just started popping into my head and i started to look around me for props. there wasn't much in the room just a ladder that had been left in there, a cracked mirror and a table, but i thought it would be fun to play around with these objects and as a result i got some really fun photographs. i found it easier to give my model commands and instructions when using props.
would like to say a big thank you to jacob for helping me out :)

grid faces

here are some photographs i have taken in my spare time. i have used a lomo action sampler. its one of my favourtie cameras ever. the outcomes you get from it are hilarious. i love just pointing it in peoples faces and capturing their reaction and expressions over four frames.

Patrizio Di Renzo - studio photographs

the approach of Patrizio Di Renzo is eclectic and subtle. His images are very mysterious and take us to an imaginary world, his own secret world.  He tries to stay away from realism and ordinary life. he is also a director and this shows from his work, his photographs are very staged and theatrical and each model is a character. You could describe him as a director who combines the magic with the sensual; the romantic with the lascivious; the naive with the erotic - and thus creates a unique dream world.
i like the fact that his photographs are so interesting even though there isn't a setting or shot on a breath taking location. i think he would like you to create a story and imagine where the character in the image is and what her surroundings look like. due to the dramatic garments and makeup i think a back ground on these images would be too much.
